PhotoBrush

What is the difference between PhotoBrush and other Mediachance products?

PhotoBrush is a bitmap editor and photo retouching package. It is packed with many powerful effects and filters to rapidly improve your digital images from scanner or digital camera. It was build to be easy to use, for adjusting and retouching digital images.

What is the difference between PhotoBrush and other image editing programs such as Adobe PhotoShop ?

PhotoBrush is aimed mostly on digital camera users. All the effects and filters were specially constructed and adjusted for digital camera images. You can find many digital camera related filters such as Hot Pixels Removal, RGB noise removal, cleaning skin etc...
PhotoBrush has also many automatic adjusting procedures and scanner/film scanner support with automatic dust removal.

Since the main task for PhotoBrush is to enhance and retouch images without the overload of all-you-can-find features, we didn't include layering capabilities. (However it may come in some future version) If you are looking for composing software we have Real-Draw Pro which you may find excellent for layering various objects and effects.
We believe even other software users will find some effects of PhotoBrush a good complimentary addition to their software.

Who created the effects and algorythms in PhotoBrush?

I am personally very interested in creating new processes for adjusting images. Most of the image processing algorythms other software companies are using is 10 or more years old. You can find the very same algorythms even in old version of Adobe Photoshop which probably pioniered these things. But unfortunately this was a long time before digital cameras were introduced...
PhotoBrush has many algorythms tweaked or invented especially for todays high density images. All effects are tested on various digital camera images. Many of these effects are not examples taken from various image processing books.

What is the upgrade policy?   The software involves quite rapidly. Currently all upgrades are free. You simply need to install the new version over the old one.
What is the difference between DCE AutoEnhance and PhotoBrush?
Which should I buy?
The DCE is a batch processor. You set parameters, load thousands pictures and go to bed. PhotoBrush is an image editing application, you load one picture and then tweak it, adjust it, paint on it etc. DCE is a big help if you have many pictures to be enhanced. Any user of digital cameras would benefit from it. Photo-Brush on the other hand gives you much more control with much more functions and effects. It is also a fun way to create a new art.
I would suggest to try both. I think both software have its place in your software library. If you can't afford both then probably Photo-Brush will give you a lot of fun and power for your bucks.
