The Episodes Menu
I finished the Title menu of Disc 1 in the previous step.
The title menu points to Play all or to Select an episode.
The next step is to create motion graphics for the episodes.
I created the Episode menu with four TV sets, each for one episode where a short clip plays inside a little TV. The TV sets are not just sitting there still, but they are sort of floating and rocking.
In the previous topic I explained how I created the TV for the title menu.
These four TV sets are done the exact way. In addition, I also use few show characters popping-up at a different intervals. The whole scene has about 20 video tracks.
As a background audio I used a mix of the sounds from various short clips with a looped guitar sound. When a character shows on screen I also use the sound associated with it (a speech line)
One change from the Title menu is in the foreground "hills" image. Instead of rocking the hills as they do in the Title menu, here the hills constantly move across the screen (as if you watch it from a train). This was created by first making a very long image of the hills (by repeating various hills) and then using simple left to right motion in Event Pan/Crop.
I plan to highlight the number near the TV for menu navigation, so I make sure none of the show characters cross that numbers. (They would appear behind the highlighting - small thing but disturbing issue)
Because we need two of the episodes menu on the first disc, I reused the first episode video for making the second one. I replaced the TV clips with new ones, changed the background color filter and also changed color filter on the foreground hills. I also let few different show characters to pop here and there.
A third similar menu was created for Disc 2. Here we need 4 episodes = 1 episode menu. I used a different moving background that was created by animating few show characters and a radial blur with Light Rays,
but the rest is pretty much the same.
You can watch a short crop from the episodes menu here:
